Skills and experience
Social media for small businesses
Currently I’m working with small businesses to increase their online prescence on social media using organic methods, without the ad spend.
I develop a content calendar and source content to share on Facebook. For a client in the music business, I’ve 4X its reach on social media by pushing video content.
Blogging, SEO, Social media
In my previous corporate life, I was a social and content marketing senior executive at Resorts World Sentosa.
I was initially hired as a writer for the company’s B2C blog. Then I took on additional search engine optimisation duties and introduced SEO tools which improved keyword ranking and grew blog traffic by 123% in its first year, with organic search traffic making up 55% of referrals.
I worked with the CRM and Facebook team to craft content for the EDM and social media platform, which grew the team’s contribution to e-commerce revenue.
I gained my Search Engine Optimization knowledge through reading and hands on experiments my personal travel blog yqtravelling.com.
Journalism and writing
Prior to RWS, I was a journalist at ZDNet Asia, covering enterprise technology news for the Asia-Pacific region. I covered a different range of beats, picking up complex ideas as I went along.
I was singled out to oversee Chinese-to-English news translation as part of efforts to increase coverage of news from China.
Public speaking
In my free time, I enjoy performing improv and storytelling at Story Slam Singapore.
I also run a unique book club Read-Aloud SG Book Club where members gather together to read out loud from selected books.
Community building
I deeply love improv and the joy of spontaneous, unscripted theatre.
I’m heavily involved in the improv community in Singapore. I run improvcalendar.com which consists of a website, Meetup group and Facebook Page which lists improv theatre shows and events.
